Volkswagan Tourag
The Volkswagen Touran
is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) based
on a vertically stretched 5th generation of
the Volkswagen Golf and sold in Europe. It
was launched in 2003 to fill a perceived gap
in Volkswagen's model lineup below their larger
MPV, the Sharan. The car is delivered in a
2 (area-dependent), 5 or 7 seat version. The
name 'Touran' derives from the Persian word
Turan, referring to an area in central Asia,
north of Iran.
The Touran was also
as a base model for the new generation of
Volkswagen's commercial vehicle (Caddy Mk
2).
