Honda Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline
is a pickup truck/SUV crossover. It uses Honda's
unibody large vehicle platform, shared with
the Acura MDX and Honda Odyssey. It is powered
by a J35A91 3.5 L V6 with a 5-speed automatic
transmission and all wheel drive. The Ridgeline
is the first pickup truck with a fully-independent
suspension. The Ridgeline is built in Alliston,
Ontario, Canada, where the Honda Pilot and
Acura MDX are built.
Some of the more innovative
features of the Ridgeline are its tailgate,
which can fold down or hinge to the side,
and a large "trunk" below the truck
bed. The bed is integrated with the body,
similar to the Chevrolet Avalanche. The Ridgeline
comes with anti-lock brakes, stability assist,
side airbags and side-curtain airbags as standard
equipment. In concept, the Ridgeline shares
much with such vehicles as the car-based Chevrolet
El Camino, Ford Ranchero, and the Subaru Baja.
The Ridgeline also has a very comfortable
and huge rear seat with easy folding operations.
It is availble in three trim levels: basic
RT, sport RTS and luxurious RTL or RTL w/moonroof
or RTL w/DVD Navigation.
The
Ridgeline was released in March 2005 as
a 2006 model. Although it has already received
many positive reviews like first place winner
in Car and Driver truck comparison, sales
have not lived up to the company's expectations,
with less than 4,000 sold in June, 2005.
