Chevrolet HHR
The Chevrolet HHR (Heritage
High Roof) is a retro-look station wagon that
was launched by Chevrolet at the 2005 Los
Angeles Auto Show as a 2006 model. It shares
the GM Delta platform with the Chevrolet Cobalt
and Saturn ION. It is similar in concept to
the Chrysler PT Cruiser, though a bit larger,
making the car look more like a subcompact
SUV. (Thomas Gale, the designer of the PT
Cruiser, also designed the HHR.) The HHR is
assembled in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico and is available
for sale throughout North America.
The vehicle's design
is inspired by the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban
with large, square fender flares and a hemispherical
grille. GM hopes to sell 60,000 per year,
with pricing starting at $15,990 USD. The
HHR in LT trim comes equipped with a standard
MP3-capable radio and power driver's seat.
It has a large cargo-carrying capacity for
a car of its size, with a flat-load floor
and fold-flat front passenger seat.
