Model V Concept
Dating back to the term
“Model A”, the Model U is concept
car that is designed for the 21st Century.
The car is “the world's first supercharged
hydrogen internal combustion engine”
and has such interesting features as an all-electric
transmission. Completely digital, the Model
U is supposedly upgradeable and adaptable
for its users.
Inspired by the changes caused by the Ford
Model T, this car seeks to cause cultural
changes as well as respond to them. The car
is quick to take advantage in the petroleum-free
trend that has moved through the automotive
industry of late, and is as “tree-hugging”
as it predecessors were “gas-guzzling”.
Built with suicide doors and minimal internal
controls, this car does indeed signal a change…
a complete dependence on you local mechanic.
In the first days of
the automobile cars were relatively simple
devices that could be repaired in one’s
own garage with a few hours of work. There
were no oxygen sensors to replace, no computers
to plug into, and no electrical webbing to
speak of; they of course didn’t have
any seat belts, air bags, heating, or even
a radio, but the Model T was at least simple.
The Model U is of course anything but!
