Chrysler Akino Concept
What do you get when
you cross a living room with a ultra-mini
city car? The Akino. Named after Chrysler
designer Akino Tsuchiya, it was designed in
California. While the outside of the car looks
like a Smart car or a Subaru R1, the inside
looks like the result of an Ikea shopping
spree. Rear suicide doors and front forward
doors give total access to the inside of the
vehicle, while the front seats swivel back
so that everyone inside that car can talk
face to face. The overall feel is a lounge
like atmosphere, where those enjoying a spin
through the city (or suffering a long traffic
jam) might spend the hours enjoying the company
of guests.
The car has been described
as a “mobile sanctuary”; of
course its so small that one would hope
those inside don’t mind close-talking
a little because their going to be inside
each other’s personal space. Also,
the car doesn’t have a working power
train…apparently the designer made
a car that looked forward to the future
use of non-petroleum based internal combustion
engines. Perhaps Akino has an “electric
skateboard” propulsion system in mind?
