Chrysler Airflite Concept
Making its debut in
2003, the Chrysler Airflite Concept is said
to have the style of coupe yet the practicality
and function of a sedan. It is a five-door
hatchback with similar design to the Crossfire
and the Firepower (both of which aren’t
exactly cheap). The vehicle is long and tapered
with a sleek body and sort of bubble dome
roof. This design is meant to remind the consumer
of Art Deco styling so common on very early
model Chryslers. With the typical 2000s wide
wheelbase and massive rims, the car gives
the appearance of being a real mover, yet
always comes back to its “getting groceries”
roots.
Like most concept cars
the inside is finished like a waiting room
in a five star restaurant, with lots of leather,
wood trim, and chrome. Future models inspired
by the Airflite are to be very roomy, with
some relationship to the Pacifica and similar
family models. Needless to say this a not
a car that any middle class citizen will be
ashamed to own, and we look forward to the
re-emergence of the Art Deco style in many
of Chrysler’s products.
